How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals?
I am very appreciative for this opportunity to become familiar with some of the newer aspects of the Internet. I will certainly utilize this knowledge in the future when working with patrons. Thank you.

#19 Gaming
I played a mind numbing round of Brick Break. Other than that, I am thankful for the opportunity to try out some of these games and have some suggestions on hand for patrons that inquire about computer games.
Week #18
Hmmm... I gues I can see the appeal but when I looked for my house I experienced a bit of motion sickness.

Week #16 Online Applications and Tools
I am familiar with Google Docs but this was my first experience with Zoho applications. I can see the advantages of these tools for our patrons but, as I understand it, there are security/privacy issues.

Week #15 Search Engines
In your blog post write about whether you prefer any of the metasearch engines over another. I was pleasantly surprised by Rollyo. It retrieved the most relevant results and very clearly identified sponsor links. Did anything surprise you about the results you received for your searches? I must confess, I've been using Google almost exclusively out of habit. I had used Dogpile before for some reason haven't used it lately. In any case, while doing a search on an author it was very refreshing to see the author's blog in the top ten of the results list in each search engine.
Week #14 Podcasting
Which library podcasts did you listen to? I listened to a couple of book review podcasts.
Do you see podcasting as a useful tool for Sno-Isle Libraries? Yes, I like the idea of having librarians create book reviews. I also like our use of podcasts for reading stories.
Any ideas about which topics our patrons might be interested in hearing? The above?
Do you have any experience with listening to, or creating podcasts? I like to listen to podcasts of NPR shows that I have missed. I have not created any podcasts.

Week #12
Did you notice anything you liked, didn’t like? Everything went very smoothly.
How was the selection of titles on the topics you browsed? So so.
Were your favorite authors available in the collection? I failed to browse by author.
Did anything surprise you about this service? No surprises but the "add to cart" and "checkout" aspects threw me a bit as they do patrons.

Week #11
Here is the link to my bookmarks http://delicious.com/katjo
How can libraries take advantage of social bookmarking sites? After giving it some thought, I can see the almost innumerable means by which libraries can use this resource...homeowork help...assignment alerts... early learning...Can you see the potential of this tool for research assistance? Hummmm...not quite able to picture it at the moment....Or just as an easy way to create bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere? I do love this aspect!!!!

Week #10
What did you find interesting? I can see how this might be a useful tool, however, the library wiki was visually unappealing as well as redundant. I liked the Book Review wiki.
What types of applications within libraries might work well with a wiki? I think a Book Review wiki would be useful. Patrons could add their comments to books that have been reviewed by another person.

Week #9
Would you use either or both of these sites? Why? One of my goals in life is to never own a television. If I had internet access at home, I could see how these sights might be useful in that I could view some of the shows that get a lot of buzz.
Would either of these sites be useful for libraries? These sights might save Jim a lot of "Staff Collection Suggestion" emails. We have patrons that take advantage of our new ability to request DVDs of television shows. While scrolling through some of the titles of television shows on Hulu, I noticed several titles that have been requested but don't meet our acquisition criteria. Hulu and Fancast are great means of meeting these patrons needs.

What features do you like or dislike about the site(s) you visited? I don't like the fact that when searching for friends, entries from people who do not want to be public appear.
What do you think makes them so popular? I can see how playing around in Facebook could be fun. I ended up getting a little lost in searching for old friends. Also, they are most likely a good way to keep in touch with people.

en attendant d'avoir des balles....
This guy is amazing! His self portraits are all very unique but I think this one is the best.

Week #6
I had a great time playing around in Finetunes. At first, I thought it would be difficult to create a list of 45 titles but once I got started, it was a breeze. Great fun.

#5
What do you like about RSS and feed readers? Its a nifty means of saving a few minutes here and there.
How do you think you might be able to use this technology in your work or personal life? I can certainly see the benefits for patrons if they subscribed to library RSS feeds.
How can libraries use RSS or take advantage of this new technology? Informa patrons about programming, new material and library news.
If you’re already using a feed reader, share your experiences with your co-workers.
Which one do you use? NA
Do you find it useful to get posts right when they are published? NA

Week 4
I was finally able to get back on the 2.0 train today. Had a brief IM session with a friend. This is a service that I have not used before as I do not have Internet. I do see, however, how this could be a useful service for libraries.

#3 posting
I am so far behind in this process that I need to keep things short. All is going well so far.
